Thank you and congratulations to all of you that were involved in the 2012 Test of Humanity race. Whether you were a volunteer, participant, sponsor or donor we could not have done it without you. Because of you we were able to raise $34,665 for Canadian Humanitarian’s projects in Ethiopia and provide a substantial amount of food to the Summerland Food Bank. We would like to thank all of you for your amazing efforts!
The next Test of Humanity mountain bike race will be held in Summerland, B.C. on September 22nd, 2013. This annual event has been designed for mountain bikers with beginner to expert abilities, and will be fun for the whole family, with individual categories and courses for all ages and abilities. Please see Course & Race Info for details.
The intention of the race is to raise money for Canadian Humanitarian and provide assistance to the local South Okanagan Food Bank. All financial proceeds from the race will be used to support Canadian Humanitarian and its projects in Ethiopia.
Canadian Humanitarian is a non-religious, non-profit organization that provides orphaned and vulnerable children in Ethiopia with access to health care, education, vocational training and the basic necessities of life such as nutrition and shelter. Please see Why the Race? page for more details.
The South Okanagan Food Bank is a local organization that provides monthly food hampers to those people requiring assistance. At present there are 9000 people in the South Okanagan that require support from the local food bank.
If racing is not your thing but you feel that this type of event is something you would like to be involved in, then please feel free to contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and we would be happy to have you join our team of volunteers.
The Test of Humanity’s mission is:
- To help break the cycle of poverty in Ethiopia by providing orphaned and vulnerable children with access to an education
- To provide food assistance to those locally that cannot provide for themselves
- To provide an exciting day of mountain bike racing for all ages and abilities
By racing in the Test of Humanity you will be playing a vital role in improving the lives of children in Ethiopia and in providing food assistance to those in need in our local community. So please join us along with race announcer Steve King (the legendary voice of IronMan Canada and now Challenge Penticton) on September 23rd, 2012 for a great day of racing, and know that you will actually be racing …..to build lives.
At no time during the process of designing and building the Test of Humanity race did we realize that the Test of Metal Inc was a trademarked name. We wish to thank Test of Metal Inc. for generously permitting us to use the name Test of Humanity in connection with our non-profit event, and if for some reason the Test of Humanity ever becomes a for-profit event we will cease to use the Test of Humanity name.
